DLI Cleaners Care is showing the world just how great cleaners are by highlighting some of the community support programs cleaners have created in their areas. The list was meant to recognize Drycleaning & Laundry Institute (DLI) members who offer a community-oriented service but it has grown to become a resource for all cleaners looking for a new project.

“The degree of creativity and diversity in the ways cleaners give back is overwhelming,” said Mary Scalco, DLI CEO. “Drycleaners are good neighbors and they go above and beyond when it comes to giving back. Every time I think of a kid with no coat, I can think of the millions who were provided coats by members of the Institute. It’s the same with prom gowns, business attire for the unemployed, canned goods and all sorts of other sponsorships by cleaners.”

More than 50 cleaners signed up in the first two weeks after the program launched. DLI Members are able to list as many charities or sponsorships as they wish. Cleaners may feel free to use the list as a springboard for ideas on any sort of sponsorship they would like to offer in their area. “It’s so great that there’s a total freedom of information with these goodwill projects,” Scalco said. “Bringing ideas like this together on one webpage is one of those simple things the Institute does very well. We want everyone to benefit from this information. Anytime a cleaner – DLI Member or not – helps someone in their community, it makes the whole world a better place.”
